Introduction
Welcome to the Research Tissue Imaging Core (RTIC) facility in the Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois Chicago. We exist to support life sciences research both at the University of Illinois and throughout the region by providing slide scanning and image analysis services for brightfield and fluorescent tissue samples. Working closely with the Research Histology Core in the Research Resource Center, we focus on quantifying RNA and protein expression in all types of specimens using state-of-the-art deep learning AI tools and high throughput microscope scanning systems. The facility also houses a Leica Laser Capture Microdissection instrument for research use and we partner with the UIC Biorepository Core for creation of Tissue Microarrays. Pathology consultations are available upon request through collaboration with the Department of Pathology clinical and research faculty.
The facility is located in the College of Medicine Research building, 909 S. Wolcott, room 6094. 24-hour specimen drop-off is located in the Molecular Sciences Building room E316, next to histology.
